What we evaluate
Right now, most centers in this directory are listed but not yet certified — we're compiling public information first. Certification is the next stage: a structured review of each center against the five areas below, re-evaluated every year so a badge reflects current practice, not a one-time snapshot.
Intake & screening
Does the center actually screen participants?
Medical and psychiatric history form, contraindication screening for medications like SSRIs and MAOIs, and required preparation period — completed before booking is confirmed.
Safety
What's the real infrastructure around each ceremony?
Facilitator-to-guest ratio, sober sitters present during ceremony, distance to emergency medical care, and a documented emergency protocol.
Food
Is the dieta taken seriously?
Pre-arrival dietary guidance grounded in actual interaction risk, on-site food safety, and accommodation of dietary restrictions.
Facilitators
Can the lineage be verified?
Documented apprenticeship or lineage, years of active practice, and references from past participants we can contact directly — not just testimonials the center supplies.
Integration
What happens after the ceremony ends?
Structured post-ceremony support, availability of follow-up, and referral pathways to mental health professionals when appropriate.
Centers that complete evaluation will carry a status badge on their listing and be able to display it on their own site, linked back to a live status page here. Certification expires after twelve months and must be renewed — a badge that lapses is marked inactive, not left showing quietly out of date.
